NOOD is coming to San Diego again on March 19-21. Sailing World is making a change this year by hosting Capri 22, Santana 20, and many other classes at Mission Bay Yacht Club. If you have never sailed NOOD, this is a first class event with good race committee, parties, daily awards, and more. We need 6 entries to establish a class. The entry fee has beed reduced to $80 which is a bargain for an event like this. If you are interested, and would like to charter a boat please let me know so I can help you out.

Steve, we'd like to learn more about this and would be interested if there were a one design class for Capri 22s. We'd have to charter, as our boat is in the water but the lake level is so low it would be very difficult to get her out until they bring the water level back up in the spring.

We need 6 boats to establish a class. Right now I think we could have at least 4 boats that would like to sail. This regatta is all One-Design, so if we can meet the entry requirements we will be racing One-Design.

Jerry, We have at least 6 boats committed for NOOD. Are you going to make it? If so, enter before March 1st before the entry fee goes up $50. _________________ Steve Ross

Good to know you've got a fleet.
I'm leaning toward coming down (at the moment) with one of my regular crew available, the other I still need to convince.
If the weather allows, I'll be able to uncover the boat and start cleaning it up for the big trip south (de-winterizing).
Not confirming just yet, but will decide on/before the March 1 deadline for the lower registration fee.
Later,

|
|
What days are the Capri 22s racing (I assume all three)?
Where will they be based (assume MBYC)?
The NOOD website mentions mooring at SDYC, any available at MBYC?
When are the races (NOR mentions skippers meeting at 1030 on Friday)?
What time for the parties, particularly the last one (when can we hit the road for our 10-12 hour trip north)?
Thanks,

We will be sailing out of MBYC, and we will be sailing just Satuirday and Sunday. The parties are at SDYC which is about 15 minutes away, and there will be a shuttle from MBYC to SDYC, and return. I suspect we will have many boats practicing on Friday. _________________ Steve Ross

1. when are the races involving Capris?
2. are Capri22s racing in Mission bay or offshore?
3. is there ramp launching nearby (I remember a spot a block north)?
4. is mooring or docking available at MBYC during the NOOD?
5. any RV parks or campgrounds nearby? looking for cheap place for three sailors to bunk
6. what is the latest scheduled event on Sunday?
thanks,

We will be racing in the ocean on Saturday, and Sunday. We have ramp launching at Santa Clara Point across from MBYC. You will be able to leave your boat at MBYC during the event. As far as the motorhome, I will have to check to see if it si allowed. If not, there is Campland that is near I-5, and about 15 minutes from the club. The powers to be like to get things wrapped realtively early on Sunday so people can get back on the road. _________________ Steve Ross

We have one cjharter boat spoken for in this event. In fact the boat that was chartered is the boat living on a trailer parked next to my boat. This boat is in preistine condiotion with everthing in good working order. I would NEVER put a potential customer in a Seaforth Rental boat... _________________ Steve Ross

Point taken and I'll make a note not to rent there if I ever get that far south. _________________ 2001 FKTR #893 "Verboten" |
